Joel Embiid recently gave fans a first look at the UA Embiid One “Origin” colorway. Philadelphia 76ers’ big man will rock his debut shoe when the Sixers go head to head against Magic at Disney World this Friday night. Embiid has averaged 32.7 points, 13.7 rebounds and 4.0 assists in the Sixers’ first three seeding games.

Before tip-off, Under Armour shares closer-look photos of the elevated on-court sneaker. The UA Embiid One is loaded with tech. It features UA HOVR™ technology in the heel, offering an energy boost when moving around on the hardwood. Strategic Micro G® cushioning is present in the soles that allows for a quicker first step and more explosive maneuvers getting to the basket. Lastly, the uppers are made with fitted, light-weight mesh for a “locked-in feel” without sacrificing breathability.

When the sneaker was first announced in January, Embiid expressed in an Under Armour press release: “As a kid, I never could have dreamed of being in this situation with my own signature shoe. The process has been incredible with the work that’s been put in. Not a lot of guys in my profession get this opportunity and I’m truly grateful for it. I can’t wait to debut it on the court.”

Get a closer look at the UA Embiid One “Origin” in the slideshow above. The sneaker will release on Under Armour’s website this September 18.

A Look at Puma’s Super Mario Brother RS-Dreamer

A pair of Nintendo Super Mario Bros. PUMA trainers were just mistakenly listed over at Foot Locker Australia. The now-removed item was a special edition pair of the J. Cole signature, the RS-Dreamer.

What sets this pair of PUMAs apart from the previous releases is that it is also a collaboration between Nintendo for the celebration of Super Mario Bros.’ 35th anniversary. From the leaked images, we can see that the main color scheme adopts the same colors that we’ve seen on Mario’s uniform throughout the franchise’s years. While the majority of the 5/8 cut uppers are in red, the colors yellow, gradient blue, and white make its way on to the ProFoam midsole and front lace support. Mario branding arrives in the form of a Super Mario Bros label at the tongue, a Mario Super Star graphic at the heel, and insoles depicting scenes from the game.

Although an official release date has not been announced, it is safe to expect this pair to drop closer to the Super Mario Bros. anniversary on September 13 with a price tag aligned with the RS-Dreamer’s MSRP of $125 USD.

KITH x Nike Air Force One (NYC)

KITH and Nike Sportswear have reunited for a NYC-centric Air Force 1. Following in the footsteps of July’s CO.JP-inspired Air Force 1 “Tokyo” that released exclusively in Japan to celebrate the opening of KITH’s Tokyo flagship, this new Force is a detailed celebration of the Ronnie Fieg-helmed brand/retail outpost’s home city.

As the Air Force 1 is a shoe with exceptionally rich roots in the Big Apple, Fieg and KITH have pulled both colors and details from familiar Force makeups. Uppers are constructed of crisp white leather and embellished with a bright orange Swoosh that fades toward the heel on the lateral side for a potential homage to the Air Force 1 “Taiwan.” Medial sides supply a blue Swoosh to lock in the New York Knicks-esque color palette.

More special detail is served by an embroidered “NYC” hit on each lateral heel piece, similar to an AF1 released in 2016 to commemorate the opening of Nike’s new SoHo flagship — though here, the “NYC” text is done up in black instead of blue. Hybrid Nikebranding appears on tongues and heels alike, collars are extra-thick in OG Force style and white midsoles/icy blue translucent outsoles round off the look.

An official release date for the KITH x Nike Air Force 1 “NYC” has yet to be announced, but an arrival this fall is likely.

Under Armour’s “Hybrid HOVR Summit Fat Tire”

Under Armour‘s Street to Summit collection aims to create products that are perfect for a modern, on-the-go lifestyle — versatile enough for daily street style, rugged enough for a grueling hike. The latest result of that experimentation is a brand-new hybrid silhouette dubbed the HOVR Summit Fat Tire. Drawing silhouette inspiration from UA’s 2015 Fat Tire line and updating the look with modern HOVR cushioning, the HOVR Summit Fat Tire is technical yet practical and loaded with unique details.

Uppers are built from durable synthetics ranging from ripstop to neoprene and feature a unique rope lacing system that snakes over the forefoot and midfoot before intertwining above the throat. This provides an easily adaptable fit and is inspired by a samurai’s armor. “Samurais have this thing called the agemaki knot,” says HOVR Summit Fat Tire designer Yurri Mial. “If you look at the different armour that they have, their panels are connected by rope and decorative elements, like the agemaki knot. It was fascinating to see how they were both ornate, yet functional at the same time. They held the armour together but they were also symbols, used to represent things like prosperity and family.”

Below this sits a high-tech cushioning setup, thanks to a midsole that’s constructed with a 360 HOVR foam build, contained by a “mesh energy web.” The HOVR foam works with another bottom-loaded layer of foam and a lugged Michelin rubber outsole, combining the energy return of a running shoe with the all-terrain grip of a boot. Colorway options include a soft green with black and orange accents or a more straightforward black and gray. There’s also a zip-off cuff option for those who wish for a little extra stability — but this piece will be introduced in early 2021.

The Under Armour HOVR Summit Fat Tire is available on the UA webstore now, and is priced at $170 USD.

Nike’s New KD13 “Aunt Pearl”

Nike Basketball and Kevin Durant have officially revealed the KD 13 “Aunt Pearl.” Continuing a longstanding tradition that began all the way back in 2012 with the KD 4, the KD 13 “Aunt Pearl” pays homage to Durant’s beloved Aunt Pearl, who passed in 2000 due to complications from lung cancer. The KD 13 marks the tenth “Aunt Pearl” sneaker from the decade plus-long partnership between Durant and Nike — and although it’s in line with many of its predecessors thanks to its pink-toned color scheme, it differentiates itself with special details.

“Pink Foam,” a light and airy pink shade covers the majority of the synthetic upper. However, it’s far from the only hue present. Both the low-slung lateral Swoosh — which dips down into the midsole — and the small medial Swoosh that’s flipped around and placed on the collar flap take on an iridescent metallic silver tone. Both are secured with light blue stitching. The collar flaps are special as well, boasting a colorful marbled graphic that combines several shades of blue and purple.

Midsoles feature the same “Pink Foam” hue as the upper, and are loaded with a sizeable Zoom Air bag in the forefoot to ensure responsive, adaptive cushioning. This Zoom unit’s placement is denoted by a pink oval on the outsole, the rest of which features an abstract blue and pink print that rises up onto the toe bumper and heel clip to complete the look.

The Nike KD 13 “Aunt Pearl” is set to release via Nike SNKRS and retailers like Foot Locker come October 24. The MSRP is set at $160 USD.
